bug Backup not working

I am having problems with the backups. I tried to do full backups of the sites as I understand it is needed for cloning.

None of the backups worked.

Until today I was just getting an error message saying the backup failed. Today I was told there was not enough memory.

Is that not enough memory on your server or on mine? How can I solve that?

TIA.

Same here. Any solution? Is the problem our servers or yours?

I´m experiencing the same problem. I wanted to duplicate a blog, however there was failure notification at the end of the process. I found that problem is probably in failing backups because of lack of memory. I would appreciate to know how to solve this problem as this function would be great. BTW it´s a new blog I wanted to backup and duplicate, there are 3 posts on it. It shouldn´t be a big package.

I just experienced this when making backups. 2 full backups seemed to have worked. Another didn't acknowledge. Several failed due to insufficient memory. And 1 failed and gave me an error in Chinese, Japanese or some other Asian language.

Would you all please let me know if you know if you are on shared, virtual, or dedicated hosting? I have access to a dedicated server I can help troubleshoot the problem to get it more specific for Vladimir. I also have a reseller account which I can't tell if it's faster with more memory or not but I'll test a few different scenarios and move this along.

You could try this. Create a file with the name "php.ini" in your wp-admin directory. Add one line with this on it:

memory=64MB

It worked for me on a couple of sites but not all of them. 5 out of 6.

Today, I did 3 successful backups but when I did the 4th, I received the following message: =??k(???z??j??V??m?Ì(??z?K(???{ Z? What is this?

I have previously done a successful backup of this site. Don't know what to do? .........Norine
